In the years of 1959, 1960 and 1961 folowing the Tibetan Uprising and the exile of the Dalai Lama, over 20,000 Tibetans migrated to Nepal and many of them made their new homes there. Many of the tibetans living in Nepal made the dangerous crossing walking through the Himalayas.

There are many Bhuddhist Monasteries in Tibetan tradition in Nepal.

Nowadays, Based on political contradictions with China, tibetans are still leaving Tibet, so they can develop and express their distinct culture and identity even if it is away from home.
