The main group of tribes are Bantu who migrated from western Africa, the Nilotic who originated from Sudan and the Hamitic, who were pastoral tribes from ethiopia.

The main tribes are Kukuyu, Meru, Kalenjin, Luyha, Luo and Maasai.
